13th Annual Graduate Student Symposium, 2022

The 13th Annual MIPSE Graduate Student Symposium will take place on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The Symposium will be an opportunity for students involved in plasma research, in particular, students pursuing the Graduate Certificate in Plasma Science and Engineering, to present the results of their investigations, learn about the research of their fellow students, and network with MIPSE faculty and staff. All MIPSE students are encouraged to participate in the Symposium. Please see submission instructions below.

The Symposium will include student poster sessions and a special MIPSE seminar by Dr. Radha Bahukutumbi of the University of Rochester. All student presentations will be considered for the Best Presentation Award.

AVS Michigan Chapter Competition

New this year! The American Vacuum Society (AVS) Michigan Chapter is sponsoring a competition as part of the poster session at the 13th Annual MIPSE Graduate Student Symposium. Participants in the MIPSE poster session will be eligible for the MI-AVS competition if their poster crosses over any of the three major focus areas below:

  1. Quantum science
  2. Thin films and plasma science
  3. Vacuum, power, and space electronics

Examples include, but are not limited to, diamond and Josephson junction devices, superconducting radiofrequency (SRF) cavities, and semiconductor spintronics and valleytronics devices for quantum information applications. Cutting edge R&D topics in thin film syntheses using CVD, MBE and ALD and SRF cavity processing for quantum devices are very welcome too.

The first, second and third prices will be $500, $300 and $200.
