15th Annual Graduate Student Symposium, 2024

The 15th Annual MIPSE Graduate Student Symposium took place on November 20, 2024, at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. We had 44 student poster presentations – 31 from the University of Michigan and 13 from Michigan State University. We also had presentations from undergraduate researchers, Sarah Feldman and Jarett LeVan.

The Symposium featured a special MIPSE seminar by Prof. Peter Bruggeman of the University of Minnesota. Prof. Bruggeman is the winner of the 2023 UM Plasma Prize.

Best Presentation Award

We had a great team of MIPSE judges for the best presentation competition - Dr. Tiago Cunha Dias, Dr. Louis Jose, and Dr. Heath LeFevre. The judges had a challenging task in selecting from the many outstanding presentations. The MIPSE Best Presentation Award winners are:

  • Alexander Cushen (Climate and Space Sciences and Engineering, UM)
  • Braden Oh (Aerospace Engineering, UM)
  • Grace Zoppi (Aerospace Engineering, UM)

The winners received a MIPSE mug, award certificate, and a plasma book of their choice.

Again this year, the American Vacuum Society (AVS) Michigan Chapter sponsored its own poster competition. The AVS prize winner is:
